3 Ways to Apply for the Federal Broadband Program

On December 27, 2021, the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) enrollment period will end, and no new applications will be accepted after December 31, 2021. Any individuals on the EBB Program will be eligible for the $50/month subsidy through 2/28/22. The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) will launch on January 1, 2022 and the subsidy is reduced to up to $30/month. All new enrollments as of 1/1/2022 will be into ACP. As of 3/1/2022, all EBB participants will only be eligible for the ACP up to $30 subsidy/month. The COVID related eligibility criteria such as “substantial loss of income” will no longer apply and customers that qualified under this program will need to requalify through another eligible program.

The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program can help you and your household stay connected.

On December 27, 2020, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 became law and established an Emergency Broadband Connectivity Fund of $3.2 billion in the United States Treasury to help Americans afford internet service during the pandemic. The Act directed the Federal Communications Commission to use the fund to establish an Emergency Broadband Benefit Program (EBB Program), under which eligible low-income households may receive a discount off the cost of broadband service and certain connected devices, and participating providers can receive a reimbursement for such discounts. The EBB Program will conclude when the fund is expended or six months after the end of the public health emergency.
